In the summer of 2014, 245 sports biomechanists from over 25 countries visited us to attend the 32nd annual ISBS conference. Students and faculty got the opportunity to share their research, learn from a huge variety of other researchers, and network extensively! Dr. Kimitake Sato did an excellent job of putting together this conference with his support staff of other faculty, staff, and graduate students. Past conferences have been held in Taiwan, Australia, Germany, Brazil and more. Johnson City is in good company!
A slew of high schoolers from a local Upward Bound program visited us to see what all the fuss is about- we gave them a chance to see all of the cool things we get to do on a regular basis within the exercise and sport science world. This half-day event involved activities and short talks from faculty, staff, and graduate students.
We have been lucky to have built a strong relationship with Integration Sports, a Taiwanese sports performance company. We have a great exchange of personnel, ideas, and knowledge!
Their coaches have headed over here to learn from our faculty and program on numerous occasions now- and we are looking forward to more!
Taiwan is not the only location people visit us from- we regularly get coaches from around the country and the world who come in for formal and informal learning events.
